🪜Ai:The Uberization of Knowledge
"Doubt is not a pleasant condition but certainty is absurd" [Voltaire]
Can a simple framework change your life?
Doubtful. But it can change the way you think. Which can change the way you act.
Here's a simple way to understand how Ai could make everyone above average [inspired by Ethan Mollick]
In the News: Can Ai Make Everyone Above Average?
Ethan Mollick produces excellent fortnightly reports on experiments in Ai.
His latest article explains how an experiment on a top consulting firm revealed that the use of Ai lifted the skill performance score of average consultants by 43%.
Given the firm’s high recruiting bar [top 10 universities and all that] a 43% lift is significant
Thus implying that ChatGPT demonstrated the ability to lift the performance of average and below average consultant. A rising tide that lifts all boats!

So What?: A Framework For The Uberization of Knowledge
Why it Matters:
In the same way that Uber disrupted the cab industry by democratizing 'The Knowledge' previously monopolized by experienced taxi drivers, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is levelling the playing field in various domains.
This evolution is critical for sectors like fintech, healthcare, and even career development, where expertise has been a barrier to entry.
London Cabbies - ‘The Knowledge’:
London's taxi drivers used to spend up to 3 years mastering 'The Knowledge,' an intricate understanding of the city's maze-like streets.
This entry barrier was obliterated when Uber entered the scene, providing GPS technology that made such knowledge accessible to any novice driver.
Similarly, AI offers a sort of "GPS for expertise," navigating complex problems that once required years of study.
Takeaway:
The "Uberization" of knowledge means that memorisation will become less valuable.
